We have volunteer roles in companionship, sport, administration and much more!We are always looking for volunteers to come and join our team, so we'd love to hear from you!About Camp Have a ChatCamp Have a Chat is a camp for up to 16 Queensland children and teenagers (6-18 year olds) who have complex communication needs. Each camper uses or is learning to use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) including sign language, communication boards and books, speech generating devices, and tablets with communication apps.  Campers attend with a parent or carer and across the course of the camp are involved in a range of activities which are closely scripted so that they can practise using their communication systems in a fun and meaningful way. You can learn more about CHAC here.CPL is seeking speech pathology students who would like to support children with a disability to make long lasting memories at Camp Have a Chat Brisbane!This is an exciting professional development opportunity!Do you have experience and/or interest in AAC? Have you completed at least two years speech pathology studies? If this is you and you’re passionate about being a part of such an exciting event, we would love you to get in touch!As the Camp Have a Chat speech pathology  volunteer you will be:Supporting a child who uses/ needs to use AAC and their family to participate at campAssisting camp facilitators with the smooth running of activities and camp processesMeeting regularly with camp staffLearning about and observing a variety of different AAC options and how they can be integrated into everyday life.This year, Camp Have a Chat will be held at our Mt Gravatt service as a day camp, over three consecutive days. You must be available for the entire camp from 8.30am - 4.30pm on 24th, 25th & 26th September. You will need to be available for the training held on 18th September from 1pm to 3pm. You will be responsible for organising your transport to and from the location of this CPL role.Make a difference and support people with a disability to live the life they choose!Please note, at CPL all staff and volunteers must hold either a valid Blue Card with Yellow Card Exemption or a Yellow Card.
